A Summer of Design
I wasn’t sure what to expect coming into the internship at Eighty Three Creative. I thought I might get to assist on some client accounts, but as it turned out I was really more like a member of the team. I got to work on some of our bigger accounts, like Clarity Home Improvements, Fruit of the Earth, AT&T, and Jack Black Skincare. I got to communicate with clients, translate their feedback to my designs, and learn more about the process of creating something in an agency setting. I also learned some useful time management skills.
Jack Black was definitely my favorite piece. It will go up on their Instagram account, and their audience will get to see my work in a way I’ve never had it displayed before.
It was great working with other members of the Eighty Three Creative design team, as well as other interns who were also growing and learning professionally. I’m really going to miss it here, but I walked away with some great portfolio pieces. Here are some of my favorites.
Clarity Home Improvements:
This piece was a little challenging, and there was some conflict within the client’s organization about how it should look. In the end, I think we made everyone happy and created something that will really be useful in promoting their brand.
AT&T has very specific branding guidelines. I created a logo for their in-house HR system that follows the brand guide, but is distinct from the current AT&T logo.
Jack Black Skincare:
My favorite piece! This client had a very specific vision in mind for promoting the Turbo Wash product on Instagram. I created an illustration that features the ingredients in the product in an organic way that connects with their brand ethos.
Fruit of the Earth:
For our internship project this summer, we chose to work with Fruit of the Earth. I created an aspirational rebrand along with tropical patterns for some of their current products such as the Aloe Vera Gel and Exotic Escape Sunscreen. The designs were applied to different packaging mock-ups.
