It Takes a Village
At the end of the day, we’re not just a group of creatives — we’re a family. We work together, we play together, and we succeed together.
His passion for how things work began at very young age when he began tinkering with toys, taking apart and rebuilding them – this curiosity is what fuels his work here. David has built hundreds of website platforms including e-commerce, nonprofit, personal, and corporate in many sectors.
He enjoys establishing new workflow environments that improve the development process. If you saunter by his desk, you’ll see a Monster energy drink at all times and his iPhone, the keeper of his to-do list.
Need some conversation starters? His dogs, a shihtzu and a frenchie, double as his alarm clock. They must be prompt because he’s never late! He’s a golfer, a cook, and always enjoys a good science documentary. His parents last names are combined to form his own.
“This is a company that thrives on challenging their employees to produce the best quality of work possible. We work hard and play harder. Before this, I worked remotely, so the collaborative environment here is a really positive change,” David says of working at Eighty Three.
Blake is the Photography Assistant for Eighty Three Creative, Inc. He spends his day assisting other photographers and ensuring each photo session runs smoothly.
Blake has a keen eye (or two) for staying in focus when on photo shoots. He helps set up lighting, props, and scouts for new locations. He has previously won two photography contests, one was a reflection theme. He took a mannequin head and reflected it over black glass. The result was a creepy mirror image of two mannequin heads staring into the lens of the camera.
Swing by Blake’s desk and you’ll catch him staying hydrated with a tall cup of ice water. You’ll also find him listening to current music hits. Although Blake is originally from Fort Lauderdale, he still prefers winters over summers.
“I don’t just like Eighty Three, I love it! Everyone is like one big family, and if you ever need help doing anything, everyone is willing to help you,” says Blake of working at Eighty Three.
One of Kenna’s biggest accomplishments is a current project: updating signage for one of our client’s, City Electric Supply, at over 300 branches. From initial site survey, to working with group managers and approving final invoices, there are many steps involved and Kenna takes necessary steps to complete this extensive and ongoing project.
The most important lesson she learned from her mentor is to always be completely honest and transparent. It’s better to be upfront with what is happening. Someone will always appreciate honesty.
Her daily routine? When you swing by her desk, you will usually hear Kenna on the phone helping and directing our clients, you’ll also see a plethora of sticky notes and a Red Bull that gets her through the day.
Need some conversation starters? Kenna owns two Shih-tzu’s – Harley and Hailey. Kenna is a true Dallasite, she was born and raised in the metroplex. She enjoys classic rock, loves watching sports with her husband and friends, and her favorite season is summer as she hosts an annual crawfish boil and attends local golf tournaments.
“I’m a part of something that started from the ground-up. I’m very thankful to be at the beginning stages of something great! Our culture is completely different than any place I’ve worked before. We are a work family and are truly friends outside of work,” says Kenna of the team at Eighty Three Creative.
At the tender age of 16, he took his first job at McDonald’s and learned this hard lesson: the customer is always right. He’s held onto the foundation through the rest of his years. Early in his career he had the opportunity to serve as an art editor for the Florida Department of Education while still earning his degree, and a short while later accepted a position as Creative Art Director with the Florida Hospital Association – two positions he’s proud to have held.
He’s a give-the-shirt-off-his-back kind of guy and always has a pair of drumsticks handy for tapping out a good rhythm. Walk by his desk and you’ll see a photo of his daughter at just 7 years old – she’s now in high school, but serves as a daily inspiration for him.
Need some conversation starters? Google this first: Pahokee. It’s his Florida hometown. He is a photographer and enjoys watching movies. He stays grounded in prayer and has a 120-gallon saltwater fish tank. He listens to all kinds of music, but says gospel is a bit like good gumbo, it’s got just enough of everything.
“Leadership here has selected a great group of creative guys and gals that work together as one. I appreciate that I am allowed high levels of creative freedom and like that the company cultivates and encourages everyone’s individual creativity. I appreciate the professional and personal relationships that have developed as a results of working here,” Quarterman says of working at Eighty Three.
Susan got her start working with creatives at a restaurant with singing waiters, where she was the assistant manager. It was her first experience working with creatives, and she has worked with them ever since. As an account manager, she gets to work with clients and the creative team, which she loves.
If you stop by her desk, you will quickly notice some form of caffeine, a pencil, Carmex, and gum. You’ll also find a planner and an assortment of Post-it notes, where she houses her to-do list.
In her free time, Susan enjoys binging on Netflix, playing board, card, and video games with friends and family, spending time with her dogs Lexi and Lola, and traveling. Her favorite place that she has been so far being Florence, Italy.
When asked what she loves most about working at Eighty Three Creative, Susan said, “The people. They’re super friendly, and there’s so much talent within these walls!”
Ray had the pleasure of photographing President Bush while he inaugurated the Bush Presidential Library. He’s also had the chance to photograph a brain surgery, and capture the inside of the Texas Instruments clean room facility.
We consider ourselves lucky to have such an experienced photographer here at Eighty Three. Ray’s primary task while at work, is product photography. He enjoys the challenge of staging, lighting, and reflections. Like most artists, he enjoys seeing his work published and knowing it’s on a website thousands will visit.
Need some conversation starters? Ray is from New Jersey; the South Jersey Shore will always hold a special place in his heart. He loves Spring in Dallas, and all the wild colors that begin to bloom. He’s a reader, movie buff, and works out a lot.
“This is a great place to work because it encourages developing creativity. The culture is one of a family, where everyone is ready and willing to help others out, whether it’s learning a skill or assisting in project completion. Some of the most creative minds I have ever had the pleasure to work with are all under the same roof,” Ray says of working at Eighty Three.
Jorge is a Studio Photographer for Eighty Three Creative, Inc. At a young age, he picked up a camera and started learning photography. Jorge loves to commit to his work and enjoys overcoming photo challenges that come his way.
Throughout his career, Jorge’s had the opportunity to feature some of his best work at a solo gallery as well as in other gallery exhibits. His work was also featured in magazines, stage plays, marketing materials, DVD movie covers, Dart buses, and websites.
When Jorge is not busy creating unique visual imagery for our clients, he enjoys working on side projects, taking Disney trips with his wife, and watching a good film.
“My creative and career-oriented teammates are what makes a difference here. The work environment is serious but in a fun, relaxed, and creative way,” says Jorge of working at Eighty Three.
Josh loves to make people laugh and is a particularly loquacious individual. If you ever catch him actually being quiet, he either hasn’t had his coffee yet or is plugged in, tuned out, and engrossed in his craft.
He graduated from the University of North Texas’ Mayborn School of Journalism with a degree is strategic communication. Here, he developed a penchant for the art or copywriting and visual design. His favorite piece of advice he ever received from a professor? “Show them, don’t tell them.”
Three things you’ll find at his desk: Cartoons of The New Yorker Calendar, a colorful assortment of Pilot G-2 pens, and an AP Stylebook – you know, a copywriter’s essentials.
In his free time, you can catch Josh trying out new recipes (he loves to cook), attending concerts and comedy shows, or planning his coming vacation. The next destination on his list? New Zealand.
“I’ve never worked somewhere with such a sense of community. The office is an amazing space filled with some truly brilliant creative minds, and it makes coming to work everyday fun,” says Josh of working at Eighty Three.
Creativity is what brought us together, culture is what keeps up together.
At Eighty Three Creative we believe that a happy team is the easiest way to ensure happy clients. From Nerf wars to ping pong tournaments and happy hours, we’re always finding new ways to have fun and grow creatively.
